“इतिहासात काही जागा कायमचà¥à¤¯à¤¾ रीकà¥à¤¤ असतात. तिथं असे काही बिंदू उपलबà¥à¤§ असतात, जà¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤‚चà¥à¤¯à¤¾ पà¥à¤¢à¤‚ आणि मागं बऱà¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤š घटना लिखित सà¥à¤µà¤°à¥‚पात उपलबà¥à¤§ असतात. पण नेमकं मोकà¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤šà¥à¤¯à¤¾ ठिकाणी शूनà¥à¤¯ असतं. तिथं इतिहास मौन पाळतो. तà¥à¤¯à¤¾ गाळलेलà¥à¤¯à¤¾ जागी असंच घडलं असावं, असं छातीठोकपणे सांगता येत नाही. अशा रीकà¥à¤¤ जागा इतिहासकारांना कà¥à¤£à¤¾à¤µà¤°à¤¹à¥€ अनà¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤¯ न करता साकलà¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤¨à¤‚ à¤à¤°à¥‚न काढता येतात. जसं की, तà¥à¤®à¥à¤¹à¥€ à¤à¤–ादà¥à¤¯à¤¾ मधà¥à¤¯à¤¯à¥à¤—ीन किलà¥à¤²à¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤µà¤° गेलात, तर मधà¥à¤¯à¥‡à¤š अशा काही अंधारवाटा लागतात. तशा अंधारवाटा आपण गतायà¥à¤·à¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤¤à¥€à¤² अनà¥à¤à¤µ आणि सहज तरà¥à¤• लावून पार करतो. इतिहासाचà¥à¤¯à¤¾ कà¥à¤·à¥‡à¤¤à¥à¤°à¤¾à¤¤ सà¥à¤¦à¥à¤§à¤¾ विवेकाची किनार धरून अशा अंधारवाटा पार करता येतात. ते फार कठीण काम नाही. à¤à¤–ादà¥à¤¯à¤¾ विशिषà¥à¤Ÿ पà¥à¤°à¤¸à¤‚गी इतिहास बोलत नसेल तर तà¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤²à¤¾ वेगळà¥à¤¯à¤¾ पदà¥à¤§à¤¤à¥€à¤¨à¤‚ बोलतं करता येतं.â€
